Full Name: Hidalgo Dionicio de Velázquez y Pensador
Nationality: Estalian
Age: 19
Career: Knight of the Blazing Sun
Career Rank: 29
Renown Rank: 11 (( haha, I know. <shame> ))
Guild: The Laughing Host
Description: Standing proudly at nearly six feet, Hidalgo is a fine illustration of noble heritage, with strong cheekbones and black, silky hair. He keeps his facial hair short and neat. His eyes, though very dark, seem to flash when he is suddenly struck by strong emotions, which happens quite often.
His Estalian accent is rich and heavy, and despite what must have been years of studying Reikspiel, Hidalgo still makes numerous grammatical errors. His vocabulary is excellent, but he still sounds incredibly foreign, to the point where some may think it intentional. As further evidence, the Knight has been known to "rename" people to something he finds easier to pronounce.
His behavior tends to range from quiet confidence to absurd bravado. At times, Hidalgo will speak at great length about how handsome he is, or how his family's illustrious background somehow guarantees his success. It can be hard to tell if the young man is joking or flat-out delusional.
Background: The Pensador family legacy is a grand one. Their devotion and service to Myrmidia can be traced back for generations. To an outside observer, there is a distinct and unusual pattern among them all - a mostly lackluster career defined by a single moment of greatness. According to family legend, these successes are a miracle granted by Myrmidia herself.
Hidalgo has only recently achieved full Knighthood. Whether by miracle or other means, he has not yet achieved greatness.
Ever since being called to the Empire to aid in their war against Chaos, Hidalgo has found himself in constant need of adaptation to people and situations he had not previously encountered. As per the Pensador legacy, he is expected to find great success on the battlefield. When he falls short of that lofty goal, Hidalgo knows the blame lies not with his well-crafted equipment, or with the many brilliant minds who trained him. It is the man in the armor who falls short. That one fact is a secret he'd much sooner hide under bravado than discuss openly.
Personality Quirks/Mannerisms: For Hidalgo, fighting is a sport and an artform. He takes great delight in picking verbal spats with others, but grows quickly bored if his chosen opponent doesn't join into the tit-for-tat pattern.
He is also a shameless flirt and will often call women by querida ("darling") instead of their given names. Again, the behavior is a sort of sport for him - a woman who warms to him quickly will find him suddenly bored. In his own words, he "cares not for the low-hanging fruit."
For reasons he refuses to discuss unless forced, Hidalgo is extremely paranoid about leg injuries. When his walking is impaired, even for a short time, his personality becomes extremely bitter.
Passions/Loves: Hidalgo has found himself enraptured by Margret Ritter. Her strength of body and mind, the ease with which she sees him eye-to-eye and, perhaps most importantly, the fact that she's almost constantly out of reach, fascinate him.
He is very fond of the literary arts, especially poetry. Well-written Imperial poems impress him, since he finds Reikspiel to be a very ugly and unwieldy language.
In a sense, one could say everything is a passion for Hidalgo Pensador. He sees the world through a lens of love and hate. He believes passion to be a fuel for the skilled warrior.
Hatreds/Pet Peeves: Hidalgo hates ugliness in all of its perceived forms. Along with the usual things, that includes blind brutality, oppression of women (a perceived offense to the Goddess) and overbearing leadership.
He's not a fan of Tileans, either. Surprise, surprise.
Hobbies: Poetry, calligraphy, fighting as a form of sport (be it physical or verbal)
